Saina Nehwal Regain World’s No. 1 Spot In World Badminton

World No.1 Shuttler Saina Nehwal has regained the top spot in the recent women’s single rankings match organized by the BWF – Badminton World Federation on Thursday, 21 May 2015. Saina defeated Li Xuerui of China who is world’s No. 2 women’s singles player and the reigning Olympic Champion.

After becoming World’s No.1 Shuttler, Saina said It is still unbelievable. Let me pinch myself! It will probably sink in only when I see my name on the top of the ranking list”.

Saina has won two titles this year – India Open Super series and India Grand Prix Gold which is a pride of honor in its own. Now by coming next she will play $750,000 Australian Open Super series next week in Sydney, Australia. Saina had outclassed Spaniard Carolina Marin to clinch her first Super Series crown in 20 months, after appearance on top in the Denmark Open in October, 2012. World No 2 Saina had beaten Spaniard Carolina Marin – who later won the World Championships – to lift the trophy previous year. This time she will open her campaign against a yet to be decided qualifier.
