Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd on Thursday said it sold 40,591 units in August — up 14 per cent from 35,634 vehicles sold in the same month in 2016. The automobile manufacturer’s sales picked up by sales of light commercial vehicles (weighing over 3.5 tonnes) with a 34 per cent rise, while the medium and heavy commercial vehicle segment sales rose 9 per cent to 371 units in the month. Sales of 3-wheelers dipped 4 per cent to 4,705.
The company’s domestic sales stood at 36,944 units in August, registering a 15 per cent growth while its exports grew only 4 per cent to 3,647 units in the month, a company statement said.
