If you love taking green tea, this might save you from the risk of abdominal aortic rupture. As per researchers, it is a deadly condition affecting the main artery of the body and often turns out to be a silent killer. The findings have shown that the green tea polyphenol which happens to be a major component of green tea can help to prevent development of the abdominal aortic aneurysm. In this condition, the main artery becomes overstretched and bloated. In the study, the team of researchers treated rats with enzymes which induced in them abdominal aortic aneurysm and found that the condition developed less frequently in rats when they drank green tea polyphenol.
Kenji Minakata from Kyoto University in Japan says, “Abdominal aortic aneurysms often go unnoticed because there are no symptoms until they burst.” Without treatment, aneurysms can eventually rupture causing death 50 percent of the time.
